Microsoft Teams Workflows

Overview

Microsoft Teams workflows in Tycho Data Osprey allow you to send real-time alerts to Teams channels when data quality issues are detected or asset statuses change. This enables immediate collaboration and response by the right teams within their day-to-day environment.

Use Microsoft Teams workflows to:

  • Notify operations or engineering teams about asset status changes

  • Route alerts by domain to the appropriate Teams channel

  • Improve incident response time through centralized visibility

Setting Up a Microsoft Teams Webhook URL

Before creating a Teams workflow in Tycho Data Osprey, you need to configure an Incoming Webhook for the desired Teams channel.

  1. Open Microsoft Teams and go to the channel where you want alerts posted

  2. Click the More options (ยทยทยท) button next to the channel name. Click Manage channel. If you are not an admin, the Manage Channel option is under the Open channel details option in the top right of a channel.

  3. Under Connectors, select Edit

  4. In the Connectors dialog, find Incoming Webhook and click Add

  5. Give the webhook a name (e.g., "Osprey Alerts"). Click Create

  6. (Optional) Upload an image to show in the messages

  7. Click Create

  8. Copy the Webhook URL displayed

  9. Click Done

This URL will be used to post alerts from Tycho Data Osprey to this channel.

Creating a Microsoft Teams Workflow

Once you have the webhook URL:

  1. Go to Settings > Workflows in Tycho Data Osprey

  2. Click Add Workflow

  3. Under Workflow Type, select Microsoft Teams

Configure the workflow

Fill in the following fields:

  • Name: A unique name for the workflow (e.g., Site A Sensor Alerts)

  • Description: Optional description for internal context

  • Webhook URL: Paste the Microsoft Teams webhook URL you copied

Click Save to create the workflow

How Microsoft Teams Alerts Work

When the workflow is triggered:

  • Tycho Data Osprey will post a message to the configured Teams channel

  • The alert will include:

  • Affected tag, asset, or display

  • Description of the issue

  • Timestamp

  • Link to view the issue in Tycho Data Osprey
