Jira Workflows
Overview
Jira workflows in Tycho Data Osprey allow you to automatically create issues in Jira when data quality problems or asset status changes occur. This integration connects operational data issues directly to your engineering or maintenance backlog for tracking, triage, and resolution.
Use Jira workflows to:

Log failing checks as actionable Jira issues

Assign data quality tasks to engineering or IT teams

Integrate with sprint planning and issue management workflows
Prerequisites
Before creating a Jira workflow in Tycho Data Osprey, you will need:

Your Jira API base URL (e.g., https://yourcompany.atlassian.net)

A Jira username (usually an email address)

A Jira API key, generated from your Atlassian account
-
The project key where issues will be created (e.g., ENG, OPS)
Creating a Jira Workflow

Go to Settings > Workflows in Tycho Data Osprey

Click Add Workflow

Under Workflow Type, select Jira
Configure the workflow
Fill in the following fields:

Name: A unique name for the workflow (e.g., Data Gaps → Jira)

Description: Optional internal description
-
API URL: Your Jira instance URL (e.g., https://yourcompany.atlassian.net)

Username: Jira account email address
-
API Key: API key associated with your Atlassian account
-
Project Key: Key for the Jira project where issues should be created (e.g., DATA)
Click Save to create the workflow.
Tycho Data Osprey will authenticate with Jira using these credentials and create issues in the specified project when the workflow is triggered.
How Jira Issues Work
When triggered by a monitor or asset status change:

Tycho Data Osprey creates a new issue in the configured Jira project

The issue includes:

Summary with the asset or tag name and issue type
-
Description of the failure
-
Timestamp of the issue

Link to view the issue in Tycho Data Osprey
